Leon County Schools is now telling its principals to keep a close eye on the mail. It s all because schools in Thomas, Wakulla, and Taylor counties received similar threatening letters.

LEON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) â The FBI is looking into three separate cases involving threats mailed to schools in the Big Bend area and South Georgia.
The first time it happened was on January 4 in Thomasville. Thomasville Police say someone sent two letters with a chemical-type threat to the staff. On February 17, Wakulla High School received a similar letter.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) â Wednesday commissioners took on two pressing issues, COVID-19 vaccinations and the growing homeless issue in Tallahassee.
In the update to the city, Leon county health director Claudia Blackburn and Tallahassee Fire Chief Jerome Brown say they are on the right track to vaccinate people but are looking to see vaccinations increase.
More than 30,000 people in Leon County have been vaccinated.
This includes 50 percent of the county s senior population, which is the highest in the state.

Many trees were knocked down, with one even falling onto a car. But the biggest damage comes from an airplane that was flipped onto its roof.
Crews with the City of Tallahassee Utilities and the Tallahassee Fire Department spent hours clearing the area making sure there are no potentials for a hazard, including cleaning fuel that leaked from the plane.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) â It s been a community effort getting seniors vaccinated.
The Tallahassee Fire Department has added around 10 extra staff members to help draw vaccines, check paperwork and even administer those shots.
With more staffing, the department can now administer 200 vaccinations an hour, which has helped in vaccinating 24,000 of Leon County residents.
Division Chief Mike Hadden said he s impressed with the work the fire and health department has done to help immunize Leon County.
