DALLAS With COVID-19 cases moving in the wrong direction and the Delta variant becoming a greater concern, teams of Dallas County workers and volunteers are hitting the streets.
They are going door-to-door, and walking block by block in different neighborhoods, engaging with residents.
“The County is doubling down on efforts to make sure that everyone knows about the vaccine, have access to it. A lot of people do not have information, or enough information, or may have questions on the vaccine,” explained Christian Grisales, a spokesman with Dallas County Health and Human Services.

FORT WORTH, Texas In roughly a month, students head back to school in districts across North Texas, but COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations are rising rapidly. Legislative decisions, along with orders from Gov. Greg Abbott, have left districts and parents with few options.
Irene San Juan is the PTA president at Waverly Park Elementary School in Fort Worth ISD and has a first- and third-grader.
In at least one of these suburbs, there s more behind the numbers.
The town of Addison, for example, only has about 16,000 residents, leaving any increase of cases appearing higher than communities with larger populations.
It s more widely known for its busy general aviation airport and as a business town.
Because of its large footprint on business, about 100,000 people came through the town before the pandemic, according to town spokeswoman Marty Rosenbleeth.
Adrian Dydell opened his two barbershop locations about two years ago, just before the pandemic hit.
Business, he said, has actually thrived after they were able to reopen last year.
Dallas County’s Jefferson Clinic in Oak Cliff is the county’s only immunization clinic that provides the optional COVID-19 shots for kids, along with all the other immunizations kids are required to have for school.
Claudia Cardosa was at the clinic Monday with her 12-year-old son Paul Mandarino to get the COVID-19 protection for her child. She said she is scared of COVID-19.
“I had one family member that was really sick in the hospital so, definitely,” Cardosa said.
Another parent who declined to give her name said she got the other required vaccines for her children, but not the COVID-19 shots. That parent said she had a mild case of COVID-19 herself and worries more about possible future problems from the vaccines that are not currently mandatory for school.
