“The suspect is still at large,” sheriff’s Lt. Erik Raney said Friday afternoon. “However, investigators do not believe that the general public is at risk.”

A local man led police on a 1.5-mile chase last Saturday, striking curbs with his car several times and driving through a busy shopping center’s parking lot before he was arrested, Westborough authorities said.
Police arrested Andrzej Pardo, 55, around 11:13 a.m., police Lt. Chet Hallice said Monday.
An officer patrolling Turnpike Road (Rte. 9) did a random license plate check on an Alfa Romero and it came back as being unregistered and the owner (Pardo) having a suspended license. The officer stopped the car.
The officer spoke to Pardo and was walking back toward his cruiser when the Alfa Romero sped off.

Last week I told you that this week I’d be sharing some of Noozhawk’s exciting plans for 2021. Well, I need to postpone that till next week as we’re awaiting an update from our Newspack partners on our transition to the WordPress.com and Google News Initiative universe.
That timeline, which I expect will be completed in the first quarter, will determine the scheduling of several other projects we have in development.
In the meantime, thank you again to our Hawks Club members who made such a huge difference with their financial commitments to Noozhawk last year, and for already getting this year off to such a strong start.

A couple who left dogs and cats to suffer from untreated eye and dental problems have been banned from keeping animals for seven years.
Jacqueline and Peter Portingale, aged 75 and 76 respectively, who lived in Lower Weare at the time of the offences and have since moved to Stoke-on-Trent, have been found guilty of animal welfare offences and were sentenced at North Somerset Courthouse, following a prosecution by the RSPCA, on December 15.
An inspector from the animal welfare charity was called to the couple’s former home in Turnpike Road in May 2019 after concerns were raised for the welfare of animals at the address.
