Cole Littlewood wanted something his brother already had a checkered flag this season in the Late Model Sportsman division at Monadnock Speedway.
Cole, of Orange, can cross that off the list after his victory last Saturday at the Winchester, N.H., quarter-mile. Littlewood took the lead early in the race and held on to the win over Ryan Currier and points leader Cam Curtis, who has won four times this season.

GREENFIELD A Turners Falls man who was arrested after allegedly beating a man for five hours while interrogating him over alleged stolen marijuana pleaded not guilty Thursday and is being held without the right to bail pending an Aug. 6 dangerousness hearing.
Miguel D. Russell, 22, was arraigned in Greenfield District Court on charges of assault and battery, assault with a dangerous weapon, kidnapping, intimidation of a witness/juror/police/court official and larceny under $1,200.
According to a police report by Montague Police Officer Cody Wells, at 5:27 p.m. on Tuesday, July 27, Wells was dispatched to the F.L. Roberts gas station at 132 Third St. on a call of a young man who used the gas station’s phone to report he had been kidnapped and assaulted. TURNERS FALLS Morning show host Christopher “Monte” Belmonte says WRSI 93.9 The River has prided itself on providing great local music for its 40-year history, and that’s precisely what the radio station will do to celebrate its anniversary on Sunday.
WRSI in partnership with the Shea Theater Arts Center, of which Belmonte is president is holding a free music festival in Unity Park starting at 2:30 p.m. Musical acts include some of the station’s staples, such as Rubblebucket, And The Kids and Winterpills. Food trucks and beer will be available.
