Eddy County moves from turquoise to yellow in NM COVID-19 risk map
The New Mexico Department of Health released an updated county map Wednesday afternoon showing Eddy County was pushed back to the Yellow Level after only two weeks at the turquoise level.
The map is part of the state’s Red to Green framework and demonstrates the rate of COVID-19 positivity by county. The goal is for counties to report less than a 5% positivity rate and no more than eight average daily cases per 100,000 people.
Red is the most restrictive level with counties reporting high rates of test positivity and case numbers. Yellow Level counties have reached at least one of the two state criteria. Counties in the Green Level have met both criteria, and those in the Turquoise Level have maintained Green Level criteria for at least two consecutive biweekly map updates. Restrictions on business and day-to-day life lessen as counties make progress toward lower positivity rates and fewer case counts.
