Dirk Smith: What exactly is Spikeball/Roundne t? Nora White: I launched Spikeball Inc in 2008 with no real clue about starting a business, let alone launching a new sport. Yet, here we are with 4+ million players (all over the world), 40 full-time employees, 150+ tournaments every year, and tons of love from Shark Tank, Casey Neistat, Dude Perfect, The Today Show, Inc Magazine, countless professional athletes and celebrities.

NCAA March Madness Must Do Better To Confront Gender Inequality By Dirk Smith, M.Sc, SDL (He/Him) As the NCAA March Madness tournament is wrapping up, we are looking back on the annual college basketball championships that has created controversy over the extensive gender inequality it has displayed between the men’s and women’s tournaments. It all started when a coach from Stanford University posted a photo comparing the men’s and women’s weight rooms on social media. The photo shows the weight room set up for the men’s tournament which includes a variety of squat racks, lifting benches, dumbbells and plates in a large area. Whereas the weight room set up for the women’s tournament includes a rack of dumbbells up to 30lbs and a pile of yoga mats on a table. The post drew swift criticism to the NCAA regarding the clear difference in strength and conditioning standards between men and women and the lack of equal opportunities for athletes in women’s sports. Catching Up With Martin Stark and the World Gay Boxing Championships By Dirk Smith, M.Sc, SDL (He/Him) Our sports editor, Dirk Smith caught up with Martin Stark who is busy organizing and promoting the first ever World Gay Boxing Championships set to take place in 2023. We wanted to learn more about the event and how Martin is working to make boxing into a global LGBTQ+ sports event. Dirk Smith: Tell us more about the World Gay Boxing Championships; when/where they will be held, who’s invited, etc. Give us the rundown! Martin Stark: The championships will be held in Sydney from 20-24 February 2023 coinciding with the city hosting Mardi Gras and World Pride.
