Twenty-five Scottish schools and campuses are to be built or refurbished thanks to an investment of nearly £800 million. Education Secretary John Swinney has revealed that Scottish Government funding, alongside local authority contributions, will enable improvements across 18 local authorities. Ministers also said that Phase 2 of the Learning Estate Investment Programme would deliver digitally enabled, low-carbon teaching venues. The programme aims to benefit around 50,000 pupils by the end of the next Parliament and is managed on behalf of the Scottish Government by the Scottish Futures Trust (SFT). Among the schools and campuses included in Phase 2 are the Gaelic Primary and a new city centre primary school in Glasgow, Liberton High and Wester Hailes Education Centre in Edinburgh, Peincuik High and Mayfield Primary School Campus in Midlothian, Perth High and Nairn Academy.
