Liquor licenses suspended for some in Detroit, Battle Creek, and Flint Fox 17 Archives and last updated 2021-01-12 18:52:49-05 LANSING, Mich. — Emergency suspensions of liquor licenses and permits have been issues in Battle Creek, Detroit, and Flint according to the Michigan Liquor Control Commission (MLCC). The suspensions have been issued for the following violations: allowing non-residential, in-person gatherings; providing in-person dining; and failure to require face coverings for staff and patrons. Thus far the MLCC has suspended liquor licenses for 34 businesses for violations. Minnie’s Rhythm Café located at 546 E. Larned in Detroit had their liquor license suspended Jan. 6, Down the Tracks located at 2310 W. Court St. in Flint saw their liquor license gone Jan. 11, and Lakeview Lounge located at 640-642 Capital Ave. SW in Battle Creek lost theirs today.

Women s Opportunity Center seeking technology donations

ITHACA, NY The Tompkins County Women’s Opportunity Center (WOC) announced today that it will be holding a technology drive during January 2021 in a continuous effort to offer remote services to its clients through online employment training platforms and virtual career coaching sessions. Many women that the WOC serves do not have the equipment that the shift to virtual services requires.   The WOC is a non-profit organization that offers free programs and services to advance women’s success in the workplace by providing employability skill training. Throughout the month of January, the WOC will accept gently used equipment, such as laptops, tablets, webcams, cords, and cables. Laptops are requested to be no older than five years and cell phones or tablets no older than three years.

Richard E. Rominger July 1, 1927 Dec. 21, 2020 Richard E. Rominger passed away on Dec. 21 with his family by his side. Richard was born July 1, 1927, in Woodland as the first child of Albert H. Rominger and Anne Violet Ehrhardt Rominger. Rich had his elementary education in the rural one-room Union School. He graduated as valedictorian at Winters High School. After service in the U. S. Navy at the end of World War II, he attended the UC Davis, which is where he met his future wife, Evelyne Rowe. Rich played trombone in the Aggie Band and third base on the Aggie baseball team. He graduated with highest honors with a degree in plant science. He was a member of Alpha Zeta, the National Agricultural Honor Society, and a life member of the Cal Aggie Alumni Association.
