The parents of two young boys, allegedly mowed down and killed by an out-of-control driver in January, are engaged in a bitter legal dispute over how their bodies should be laid to rest. Shane Shorey, 7 and Sheldon Shorey, 6, died after they were hit by a car on January 6 while walking on the way back from the swimming pool in Wellington, in central NSW. They were walking with their mum Shayleen Frail, older brother and a friend, who were all hospitalised with severe injuries. Last week, it emerged that Shane and Sheldon were still being kept in a morgue in Newcastle after their parents had failed to agree on their final resting place.

Mum of boys who died after being hit by car makes harrowing admission from her hospital bed

Even the doctors are amazed at her strength and resilience, the young mother s friend Bec Clarke said on Monday night. Ms Clarke shared a moving photo of the mother smiling beside her hospital bed and revealed she had begged to borrow her phone so she could thank friends and family for sending their well wishes on Facebook.  Ms Clarke said she ended up having to take the phone off her as she would have been sitting up all night on it.

Jacob Steven Donn sobbed as he was refused bail in Dubbo Local Court on Tuesday, a week after the car he was allegedly driving hit Sheldon, 6, and Shane Shorey, 7, on Warne Street in Wellington, in the NSW central west. Donn, 25, allegedly fled the scene following the crash, which also saw Shaylene Frail, 34, the mother of the two boys, suffer spinal injuries, and a family friend lose a leg.
