A 59-year-old San Diego man was killed early Saturday morning on Interstate 8 near Alpine when his vehicle was struck head-on by a wrong-way driver who has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, officials said.
The San Diego man, whose name has not been released, was driving a blue Honda CR-V westbound on I-8 just west of Dunbar Lane at 2:05 a.m. Saturday. At the same time, Guillermo Christian Roblero III, 26, of Alpine was driving a gray Toyota Scion TC east in the westbound lanes. For unknown reasons, Roblero’s Toyota struck the Honda head on, killing its driver at the scene, according to Travis Garrow, with the California Highway Patrol.

Crews on Friday continued to mop up hot spots from two forest fires at opposite ends of Ohiopyle State Park in Fayette County after they consumed nearly 500 acres of woodlands, according to authorities.
