He was a strong advocate for and presided over the county s Adult Drug Court.
364th District Court Judge William Eichman said he cared deeply for those struggling with addiction. He would provide a sounding board for them. He d get to know them. He was more than just the Drug Court judge to them he was their family in some ways. I think if you don t have the heart for it, you shouldn t do it. He did and that s just the person that he was, Eichman said.
He was appointed to the bench in 2006, covering both Lubbock and Crosby counties.

Shirley Moody-Turner is an associate professor of English and African American studies and co-director of the Center for Black Digital Research at Penn State. Denise Burgher is a doctoral candidate in English at the University of Delaware and project coordinator for The Colored Conventions project. School district names top educators in Lee County during pandemic

The School District of Lee County recognized two of its educators as the top assistant principal and top principal in the District for how they have both led and responded to their schools and the community during the pandemic.
“Anybody at this time could be in dire situations,” said Forrest Walker Jr., an assistant principal at Dunbar High School. “There is a necessity to be encouraging and positive during this time.”
Walker and Principal Rob Cooper of Bonita Springs Elementary School are both now Lee County’s assistant principal and principal of the year respectively.
