Alabama at WrestleMania: From Paul Bearer to Bray Wyatt, the state’s biggest moments

Alabama has its share of WrestleMania moments, with legends either born here or having passed through at some point, before they etched their names in WWE lore.
Icons like Paul Bearer and “Sensational” Sherri helped make the annual “Showcase of the Immortals” what it is today, the greatest annual pro wrestling spectacle in the world, with modern performers like Bray Wyatt and The Usos writing their own chapters.
WrestleMania 38 will take place as a two-night event on this Friday and Saturday at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Fla. Following the merger of the WWE Network with Peacock, the pay-per-view will be the first major WWE event for which U.S. subscribers can only stream the event via Peacock’s WWE Network channel.
2021 WWE Hall of Fame Inductee Rob Van Dam joined WWE’s After the Bell Podcast to talk about what his induction meant to him. Van Dam spoke about how prestigious of an honor being inducted is to him, saying it means more than winning any world title.
“It feels like it’s some credibility that can’t be taken away,” Van Dam said. “Everything is up for opinion and the whole idea of a good anything is subjective. To me, when I think about it, it’s got to be better than winning any world championships. I don’t imagine everybody who ever gets to hold a world champion is as impactful on everybody’s lives. Probably not every champion is going to be as memorable and maybe not every champion is going to be a legend that people remember. I think this is an even higher prestige, being in the Hall of Fame with all the superstars that influenced me and inspired me when I was growing up and a lot of the great talent I was wrestling with.

An Airdrie schoolboy s dream of becoming a wrestler is finally set to come true after he was challenged to face-off with one of Scotland s biggest squared-circle stars.
On a recent episode of the Grilling JR Podcast, Jim Ross covered the memorable WrestleMania X7 pay-per-view that was headlined by Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock facing off in their second WrestleMania main event against each other. This show is widely regarded as one of the greatest pay-per-views that WWE has ever produced featuring. The show featured a stacked undercard that included Triple H vs. The Undertaker and the first ever TLC match.
The tables, ladders and chairs match featured The Hardy Boyz, Edge and Christian and The Dudley Boyz and was for the Tag Team Championships. This match created the TLC match and gave WWE the ability to make it into a brand and eventually name it a pay-per-view. Jim Ross spoke about the impact these six superstars had on the business and how that match changed the landscape of wrestling.
