A MAN from Mossbank has been told to leave Shetland and only return for his next court appearance after pleading guilty to breaching a bail condition.
Jamie Hopkins, of Sandside, admitted at Lerwick Sheriff Court on Friday to contacting his ex-partner on 21 April when a court order prohibited him to do so.

Procurator fiscal Duncan Mackenzie told the court that the 21-year-old, who was appearing from custody, had sent text messages to the woman over the space of around 40 minutes.
“This was not some sort of mistake,” he said, adding that it was a wilful breach of a court condition.

A TWENTY six year old woman from Lerwick is the first in Shetland to be ordered to contribute towards a new restitution fund in aid of police officers who have been assaulted while carrying out their duties.
Claire Antonio, of Burgh Road, previously pleaded guilty to a total of four offences including threatening behaviour and assaulting police officers at various locations in Lerwick on 25 March.

Antonio also admitted behaving in a threatening manner at the Gilbert Bain Hospital on 26 March, including claiming to be infected with Covid-19.
At Lerwick Sheriff Court on Wednesday Sheriff Ian Cruickshank put Antonio under supervision for 15 months and issued a restitution order of £250 for each of the two assaults.

A FORTY three year old man who subjected three women to violent assaults and lengthy periods of ârelentlessâ coercive behaviour including abduction was sentenced to 26 months in prison when he appeared via video link at Lerwick Sheriff Court on Wednesday.
Norman Donald, of Leaside, Mossbank, pleaded guilty to a total of five charges spanning a period of almost four years from November 2016 to May 2020 at an earlier appearance last month, and had been taken into custody.
