This week we’re tackling the economic forces luring borrowers into debt and how a centuries’-old debt imposed on Haiti is still affecting the country today. But first up, how the rich use borrowing to their advantage.
For over four years, Brexit watchers clung to his every word. And Michel Barnier came through with an early Christmas present on December 24, 2020, announcing the terms of the European Union s divorce from the UK had been agreed upon.
Yet, what was one of his greatest accomplishments also heralded the end of his EU career.
Barnier celebrated his 70th birthday in early January a milestone that bars him from ever working for the European Commission again.
But the timing, perhaps, couldn t have been better and Brexit which he has deplored as a lose-lose situation could well have provided him with the springboard to win the French presidency.

Coffee equipment maker Weber Workshops is shifting gears both literally and figuratively with the HG-2, the next generation of the brand’s high-end countertop manual coffee grinder.
The new design continues the physical format of its predecessor, the HG-1, featuring the same pre-seasoned 83-millimeter titanium-nitride-coated conical burrs and all-analog, electronics-free ethos.
Yet hidden beneath the surface of the Weber HG-2 is a plethora of new features. Chief among these is a gearbox transmission housed between the crank and the drive shaft, allowing users to select the original one-to-one gear ratio or to downshift into a smaller gear for lower RPM per manual crank. The latter results in a slower grind, but with less physical effort.
