The Night Beat: Jazz Beyond Category Christmas Songs I Like A Lot Share Expect nothing but mostly Christmas music when Doug Crane hosts a very special Night Beat Jazz Beyond Category on Wednesday evening December 23, beginning at 8 pm. Doug has chosen some of his long-time favorites and tossed in a batch of recent recordings. He’ll feature performers from around the world including Tia Fuller, Angelique Kidjo, Harry Connick Jr., Caetano Veloso, Gilberto Gil, the vocal sextet Accent, Anna Maria Jopek, John Pizzarelli, Fats Waller and more. On the lighter side Doug’s pulling out a classic comedy record by Stan Freberg and from Jack Sheldon, a cynical take on the life of a jazz musician playing for yet another season of holiday parties back when holiday parties were a thing.

Doug Crane Shows - The Night Beat with Doug Crane | Wednesday 8pm Doug’s been a jazz host on KUVO since 1992. He’s performed as a trombonist with many local swing and big bands, orchestras, wind ensembles, brass quintets and trombone choirs. He was a member of the award-winning Bowling Green State University Jazz Lab Band and has performed with Bill Watrous, Doc Severinsen, Peter Serkin, Marvin Hamlisch, Helen Reddy to name but a few. Beavis and Butt-Head Animator Doug Crane Dies at 85 ✖ Animator Doug Crane, whose six-decade career included working on Spider-Man, She-Ra, and He-Man cartoons in addition to films such as Beavis and Butt-Head Do America, died Thursday, December 17th at the age of 85. News of Crane s passing was confirmed by his daughter, Rose-Ellen, on his Facebook page, noting that his passing came after a brave and short battle with cancer and just two days after the death of his wife of 61 years, Maureen. The post indicated that the family was having a private funeral for Crane, though a memorial event would be planned once the COVID-19 pandemic calms down.
