National Work Zone Awareness Week: Drive Safe Work Safe Save Lives

Pierre, SD, USA / DRGNews Apr 24, 2021 6:00 AM This coming week (April 26-30, 2021) is National Work Zone Awareness Week and this year’s theme is “Drive Safe. Work Safe. Save Lives.” South Dakota Department of Transportation Secretary Joel Jundt says the designation highlights the deadly dangers of speeding or driving distracted in work areas. Statistics from the National Work Zone Safety Information Clearinghouse show there were 762 fatal crashes in work zones resulting in 842 deaths in 2019, underscoring the need to observe speed limits and eliminate distractions when approaching and driving through work zones. Jundt says people are invited to participate in GO ORANGE DAY Wednesday (April 28) as a visual reminder everyone can play a role in work zone safety. North Dakota Development Fund approves $365,000 for Q1 2021

(Bismarck, ND)  The North Dakota Department of Commerce announced Wednesday that three companies were approved a total of $365,000 in loan funds through the North Dakota Development Fund during the first quarter of 2021.  “We are pleased with the applications received for the first quarter of the year,” North Dakota Department of Commerce Director of Economic Development and Finance Josh Teigen said. “As we continue to navigate the aftermath of 2020, we would like to remind businesses of the flexible funding options that the Development Fund offers for new and/or expanding businesses.”  First quarter of 2021 recipients:  3DomFuel Inc., a Fargo manufacturer of 3D printer filament, received $245,000 to purchase an additional filament production line and provide working capital to scale production.

(AP) - A fertilizer truck driver is dead after he apparently lost control of the vehicle and rolled it, authorities say. South Dakota Department of Public Safety spokesman Tony Mangan told the Sioux Falls Argus Leader that the 33-year-old man failed to negotiate a curve north of Goodwin on Friday afternoon. The truck left the road and rolled. The driver was wearing a seat belt but was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not released his name pending notification of family.
