New Dakota High School Logo Revealed

(Fargo, ND) We now know what the soon to be former Woodrow Wilson High School s new digs will look like. Fargo Public Schools announced the unveiling of the new Dakota High School logo and mascot Wednesday. The name, logo, and mascot will be officially implemented when the building transitions away from the Woodrow Wilson High School name starting in the 2021-22 school year. Following thoughtful consideration and research, North Dakota’s state bird, the western meadowlark, was selected by the school community as the Dakota High School mascot. This decision was made in collaboration with the District’s Indian Education Program which consulted its parent committee and regional Native American tribes.

Freeport Mayor Jodi Miller faces challenge from Ronnie Bush

Journal Standard FREEPORT Incumbent Mayor Jodi Miller is being challenged by veteran politician Ronnie Bush in the April 6 election for mayor. Miller, a former city alderwoman, is finishing her first term as mayor. She is touting her administration s ability to fund infrastructure improvements without raising taxes, address pension liability costs and the removal of dozens of blighted structures.  Before occupying the mayors office, she had already made a name for herself in the community as a successful businesswoman and 17-year owner the popular Union Dairy ice cream parlor. Bush, also a former city alderman, is a Stephenson County Board member. He has a long history of community activism that includes creation of a neighborhood watch group, funding a police-officer-occupied home in the city s 3rd Ward, and promoting a back-to-school celebration, which entails equipping the city s children with necessary supplies for the first day of school.

Doug Burgum underwent a successful hip replacement surgery on Friday, March 12, according to the governor s office. Spokesman Mike Nowatzki declined to disclose where Burgum got the surgery, citing medical privacy and security reasons. Nowatzki said the 64-year-old governor has had a bad hip for a while, and the surgery arose out of wear and tear rather than an emergency.
