Dixie’s closed its Vancouver restaurant back in the summer of 2019. That closure left a rib-shaped hole in our hearts ever since, so it’s safe to say we are very excited to devour the eats at Slim’s once it opens.
Slim’s BBQ will offer patrons authentic Austin-style barbecue along with easy-drinking house cocktails.

Eats like fried chicken sammies, brisket, smoked pork butt, hot links, and ribs will all be up for order along with sides such as mac n cheese, buttermilk biscuits, and cornbread to name a few.
There will also be a build-your-own-BBQ platter option, which is ideal for many of us meat lovers.

My kids spent their first couple of years eating anything we put in front of them. “What’s the big deal about getting kids to try new things?” I’d say as I roasted arctic char or stirred a chickpea stew. But then the jig was up. My 5-year-old daughter refused anything except mac ’n’ cheese. Her big brother pushed away his old favorites, from his grandma’s stuffed Lebanese meatballs to his dad’s lemony scallops.
