Enniskillen Court House. AN ENNISKILLEN man has been returned for trial on a series of drug charges. Shane Carty (30), with an address of Drumbawn Close, Drumclay, Enniskillen, appeared at Enniskillen Magistrates Court on Tuesday for a preliminary enquiry. Carty is faced with 11 charges relating to incidents ranging over three years from 2014 to 2017. The charges include two counts of attempting to import a controlled Class-C drug, namely Diazepam. Further charges The 30-year-old also faces further charges of attempted possession of a Class-C drug with intent to supply, being concerned in the supply of a Class-C drug, and possession of a Class-C drug.

A RETIRED local businessman who is the first to be charged in relation to a number of historical child sex abuse cases here in Fermanagh has been remanded on bail.
James Balmer (85) of Cherryville, Enniskillen, appeared via videolink at Enniskillen Magistrates Court yesterday over five charges of indecent assault on a male.
The court heard that between September 1 and 15, September 16, September 30 1989, and again between November 17, 1988, and November 17, 1990, Balmer allegedly assaulted two males.
The defendant did not object to the holding of a preliminary enquiry with District Judge Steven Keown satisfied there was a case to answer.

The charges relate to alleged incidents involving two males on dates between September 1 and 15, September 16, September 30, 1989, and between November 17, 1988, and November 17, 1990. Balmer did not object to the holding of a preliminary enquiry with the prosecution putting forward that the 85 year old had a case to answer to. District Judge Steven Keown was satisfied there was a case to answer.

A FERMANAGH man has been sent forward to the Crown Court on more than 60 charges including possessing child porn, child prostitution, and inciting children to engage in sex acts.
Alun Cleary (37) of Main Street, Belleek, appeared at Enniskillen Magistrates Court on Monday for a preliminary enquiry (PE) into a total of 61 charges.
The charges facing Cleary include 12 counts of making indecent photographs, 23 counts of possessing an indecent photograph, four counts of engaging a child in prostitution, five counts of causing or inciting a child under the age of 13 to engage in a sex act, three counts of attempting to incite a child in a sex act, and three counts of attempting to incite a child in prostitution.
