Election reforms targeting voting by mail, drop boxes passes Florida Legislature Lawrence Mower, Tampa Bay Times
TALLAHASSEE The Florida Legislature approved along party lines a multitude of changes to the state’s elections laws Thursday night, including a ban on possessing multiple vote by mail ballots and restrictions on the use of ballot drop boxes.
Relenting on a number of ideas that were strongly opposed by county elections supervisors and Democrats, the bill now heading to Gov. Ron DeSantis’ desk is far less onerous than what Republicans were proposing over the last month.
The bill does not ban drop boxes, an idea DeSantis endorsed earlier this year.

TALLAHASSEE - Florida lawmakers Thursday night passed a plan to crack down on large social-media companies that block users from their platforms, giving a victory to Gov. Ron DeSantis on one of his top legislative priorities.
The Republican-controlled House and Senate approved the measure (SB 7072) nearly four months after former President Donald Trump was blocked from Twitter and Facebook after his supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol to try to prevent certification of President Joe Biden’s election victory.

TALLAHASSEE - Florida lawmakers gave final approval Thursday night to a bill that would make permanent a ban on COVID-19 vaccine passports, while also handing Gov. Ron DeSantis power to override local orders during health crises and directing state agencies to plan for future pandemics.
The Senate and House agreed on the final wording of the wide-ranging emergency measure (SB 2006), after Sen. Jason Pizzo, D-North Miami Beach, tried unsuccessfully to make a change directed at a Miami private school that is reportedly discouraging teachers from getting COVID-19 vaccines as the co-founder cites debunked side effects of vaccines.
