Pritzker: Illinois on track for Phase 5 by July

Illinois.gov Live Video SPRINGFIELD, Ill. If COVID-19 numbers continue to improve in Illinois, Gov. J-B Pritzker says the state is on track to enter Phase Five of the Restore Illinois Plan in July. Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot has announced her goal to fully reopen the city by July 4. That’s a real possibility statewide according to Gov. Pritzker, so long as variants, such as the U-K variant, don’t cause an increase in COVID cases and hospitalizations. “Our hospitalizations have flattened, that’s a good thing. We just don’t want to see it flare back up again, so we’re watching closely,” Pritzker said.

Pritzker: Illinois is inching closer to bridge phase

Dalton Kemper/1470-100.3 WMBD SPRINGFIELD, Ill. Illinois may soon be able to enter the bridge phase of COVID-19 mitigations. Enough senior citizens have now been vaccinated for the state to move into the bridge phase, which increases capacity limits in several different settings, but COVID hospitalizations are still a concern. Gov. J-B Pritzker said Monday that it appears that’s changing, and that the state is on a good trajectory. “I can’t say exactly what day that is. But, it feels to me, it looks to me, if you look at all the hospital admissions data, that we’re in decent shape,” Pritzker said.

For weeks, the Illinois Housing Development Authority has said they’re working to launch the 2021 Rental Payment Program, but it’s been delayed week-after-week. Thursday, the Illinois Senate passed House Bill 2877 that state Sen. Omar Aquino, D-Chicago, said lays out how the funds would be administered.
