RRW: Triple South African Champion Marius Van Heerden Has Died From COVID-19

(29-Jan) The COVID-19 pandemic claimed one of the best middle distance runners ever produced in South Africa, Marius van Heerden, in Cape Town last Thursday (January 21). Van Heerden, a former South African senior record holder and junior champion in the 800 meters, as well as national senior champion over 1500m, was just 46 years-old.

Van Heerden represented South Africa at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta and the 1997 World Championships in Athens. He first received national colours for a tour to India in 1993.

Karachi: Two-time Pakistan Super League (PSL) champions Islamabad United has appointed fast bowler Rumman Raees as their bowling consultant ahead of the sixth edition of the tournament.
In a press release today, Islamabad United confirmed the news and said that the 29-year-old will not be participating as a player this year due to an injury.
“It’s an honour for me that Islamabad United selected me for this role. ISLU have always backed me over the last five years, through my good times and my bad times, and I want to give back to them as they have given to me,” Rumman was quoted as saying.

KARACHI: Two-time champions Islamabad United have roped in former South African cricketer Johan Botha as head coach ahead of the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2021, the franchise announced on Friday.
He will replace Misbah-ul-Haq whose contract has not been renewed by the franchise due to his commitment with Pakistan team.
Botha was the fielding coach of Islamabad United in the PSL-2.
âI am very happy to be back at the Islamabad United, the franchise where I got my first taste of the Pakistan Super League at PSL-2,â Botha said.
âSince then I have had different experiences at the PSL as well as a range of different coaching stints at various tournaments around the world,â he said.
