(Undated) Wine making company Josh Cellars is donating thousands of dollars to Omaha s Children s Hospital and Medical Center following a viral challenge that brought over 1,000 people named Josh to Lincoln.
The Josh Cellars company says after seeing the success of the #JoshFight they wanted to celebrate “Joshes” around the country. The Josh Fight, which took place in Lincoln two weeks ago, was created by an Arizona man named Josh Swain. During the pandemic, Swain messaged other Josh Swains on Facebook, challenging them to a battle of the Joshes. Swain said it started as a joke, but the internet embraced it leading him to create a battle royale. A random location was chosen, a park in Lincoln, and a year later over 1,000 people named Josh came together to battle each other with pool noodles to see which Josh would reign supreme.

The celebration of the Mexican holiday, Cinco de Mayo, once again took place in the United States of America in the middle of the pandemic. Cinco de Mayo commemorates the Mexican army’s 1862 victory over France, although it is not considered a Mexican federal holiday. In fact, most Americans mistakenly believe it to be Mexico’s Independence Day (which is actually on September 16). Cinco de Mayo is known for both how misunderstood it is and for being marked by free-flowing tequila, beer, margaritas and tacos. It is not uncommon for people to purchase piñatas, Mexican flag paraphernalia, sombreros and costumes bordering on cultural appropriation. If it sounds like another American reason to drink and party, it is.
It wasnât all bad
A Pennsylvania police officerâs quick help saved a 9-day-old babyâs life. Joe and Jody Schleicher saw their daughter Olivia acting fussy and drove her to the hospital. Stopped at a traffic light, Jody saw that Olivia wasnât breathing. Seeing a police car nearby, Joe got officer Kristin Mitrisinâs attention and they pulled over in a parking lot, where Mitrisin immediately began doing chest compressions. Baby Olivia is now awaiting heart surgery. âIâm a mother of two children, so I would hope someone could help me,â Mitrisin said.
