Rebels blanked 2-0 by Calgary

Calgary expanded their lead to 2-0 at the 4:14 mark of period two on a goal Anders would love to have back. Tyson Galloway had the puck deep in his own end for Calgary when his long stretch pass missed the mark, bounced off the boards, trickled all the way towards the Rebels net and past Anders for a goal from 200 feet away. For Gallaway it was his first career WHL goal. Neither team found the back of the net in the third period as Peters would turn aside all 27 Rebels shots on goal to earn the victory for the Hitmen and his first WHL shutout.

The Rebels changed their fortunes when last season’s leading scorer Arshdeep Bains sealed the comeback win in overtime, beating Jack McNaughton on a two-on-one. McNaughton had been drawn out of the net by Ben King and Bains had a wide-open cage to pot the winner. “Les brought it up the ice, Bainsy (Bains) got on it and I saw a two-on-one,” said Ben King. “Bainsy fed it over, I couldn’t get a clear shot so I just tried to give it back to him.
