DETROIT There have been plenty of ups and downs this season for both Pistons rookie Killian Hayes and sophomore Sekou Doumbouya. But they’ve had each other to help navigate the uncertainties.
Unlike past NBA seasons, the two have missed out on the opportunities to play in Summer League, participate in a solid training camp with new teammates and a shortened season. The two Frenchmen have also had to maneuver through the unpredictability of playing basketball during a global pandemic.

DETROIT The end of Thursday night’s game against the Dallas Mavericks proved to be one more lesson in a year of development for the Detroit Pistons.
For four quarters the Pistons battled against one of the Western Conference teams on the cusp of avoiding the play-in tournament. The Pistons ultimately fell to the Mavericks 115-105, though, as Dallas got hot in the waning seconds of the game.

Detroit plays Charlotte on 6-game road skid

BOTTOM LINE: Detroit will try to break its six-game road losing streak when the Pistons take on Charlotte.
The Hornets are 17-18 in Eastern Conference games. Charlotte is eighth in the Eastern Conference in team defense, giving up just 111.3 points while holding opponents to 46.7% shooting.
The Pistons have gone 12-24 against Eastern Conference opponents. Detroit averages 42.9 rebounds per game and is 6-26 when opponents win the rebound battle.
