Coach Ufuk Talay is still searching for his first win over former club Sydney FC after Wellington Phoenix conceded two spectacular long-range strikes to lose their A-League season opener 2-1 in Wollongong on Saturday.
The Phoenix finished the stronger of the two teams but were undone by two early contenders for goal of the season, Sydney teenager Calem Nieuwenhof introducing himself with a thunderous strike on debut before midfield partner Luke Brattan won the game with a free-kick from 30 metres out.
