Widnes footballers have donated more than 150 kits and equipment so that youngsters in Africa can play “the beautiful game”. Children and young people from Widnes FC Juniors have supported the Play4Change project in Guinea-Bissau, which sends footballing essentials to boy and girls of all ages so that they can access the sport. As well as supporting players in their love of football with dedicated training sessions, equipment and building new facilities, the project also provides job skills training and education for the youngsters. Sarah-Louise Cullen, who works in the charity sector, has seen first-hand the impact that the project has had on young people.

A man and a woman have been charged over the death of a man who was hit by a car.
Jake Taylor was seriously injured in a hit-and-run crash on Loomer Road in Chesterton, Staffordshire, on 31 October 2020.
The 24-year-old died in hospital almost two weeks later.
Staffordshire Police said Jordan Parker, 22, and Alex Boult, 21, both of Kidsgrove, had been charged with his murder.

A man from Norwich is due to appear in court later this month charged with murder.
Rakeem Leandre, 25, from Brewers Court in Norwich, has been charged with the murder of 33-year-old Christopher Allbury-Burridge.
A murder investigation was launched after Mr Allbury-Burridge was found dead at his home in Raeburn Road, Northampton, shortly after 2.10am on Friday, December 11.
Leandre was arrested in Norwich on December 18 as part of the investigation.
He appeared at Northampton Magistrates Court last year and was due to appear at Northampton Crown Court for a plea and trial preparation hearing on February 5.
