Republicans say democratic elopement endangers bail reform, creates more victims
The future of felony bond reform remains in limbo amid mass departure of Texas Democrats
Republicans in the state capitol say the mass departure of Democrats from Austin in protest is killing felony bond reform. Much of the measures taken for felony bond reform would take place immediately, but if the D.C protest of House Democrats over voting rights continues, it will die.

As Democrats fled the state to avoid voting on a GOP priority elections bill that would restrict voting rights in the state, the Texas Senate approved the bill Tuesday with a party-line vote of 18-4.
The Senate passed the controversial elections bill â and bail legislation â a day after 51 House Democrats decamped to Washington, D.C., to avoid voting on the elections bill in their chamber. If the Democrats donât return before the special session ends, the Senate bills will languish.
