Webster Fee Set to Be McCarthy s Biggest at Town
Friday, 20th May 2016 10:30
Portsmouth defender Adam Webster will reportedly cost the Blues more that £500,000 plus Matt Clarke, which would be the largest fee Town have spent on a player since Mick McCarthy took charge in November 2012. Yesterday, TWTD revealed that the Blues are close to making Webster their first addition of the summer.
According to the
Portsmouth News Town will pay Pompey a fee “well in excess of £500,000” plus 19-year-old Clarke, who spent 2015/16 on loan at Fratton Park, for Webster, 21, who we understand was initially a Blues target in January.
If that figure is correct it surpasses the £350,000 paid to Danish side Esbjerg fB for left-back Jonas Knudsen last summer.
McCarthy Expected Derby to Win Automatic Promotion
Friday, 6th May 2016 06:00
Boss Mick McCarthy says he expected the Blues final day opponents Derby County to win automatic promotion rather than having to rely on winning the play-offs to reach the Premier League.
The Rams are currently fifth in the Championship but if they beat the Blues and Hull City lose at home to Rotherham will climb to fourth, which would give them home advantage in the second leg of their play-off semi-final against the Tigers.
Town can move up to seventh from their current position of eighth if they win at the iPro Stadium and Cardiff fail to beat Birmingham at home.
