In the wake of the deadly riot at the U.S. Capitol on January 6, some of the country s largest corporations have suspended doling out donations to lawmakers and political parties.
The business backlash is largely against Republicans who objected to President-elect Joe Biden s victory. More than 140 conservative members of Congress voted against the Democrats during last week s certification. Since then, companies such as Blue Cross Blue Shield and Marriot International announced they will not give money to those who supported efforts to disrupt the electoral process.

California Seeks Court Help With Investigation of Amazon Coronavirus Policies
California Attorney General Xavier Becerra on Monday petitioned a court to force Amazon.com Inc. to comply with outstanding subpoenas over a state investigation into its handling of the coronavirus pandemic.
The petition, filed with the Sacramento County Superior Court, accused Amazon of failing to adequately follow the state’s information requests as part of an investigation into the company’s coronavirus protocols and status of COVID-19 cases at its California facilities.
“Amazon has delayed responding adequately to our investigative requests long enough,” Becerra, President-elect Joe Biden’s pick to serve as U.S. secretary of health and human services, said in the petition.

Amazon has been sued by California State Attorney General Xavier Becerra Monday to force the online retail giant to cooperate in a months-long investigation for worker safety in its warehouses amid the coronavirus pandemic.
According to a Los Angeles Times report, Becerra s office asked the Superior Court judge in Sacramento County to order Amazon s compliance for the outstanding investigative subpoenas.
Last spring, Becerra launched an investigation into working conditions at Amazon s California warehouses.
