The court heard police attention was drawn to a Ford Fiesta driven by Somerville in Kelvindale. Lights and sirens were activated as Somerville fled the scene and was initially lost from sight. He was later spotted by other officers in Bilsland Drive during an area search. Prosecutor Jennifer McKee said: “The accused was seen to drive on a cycle path. “He was pursued by police and he travelled on the opposing carriageway overtaking a vehicle.
READ MORE: “Somerville travelled at speeds in excess of 70 miles per hour on roads that were 30 miles per hour.” Somerville drove on the wrong side of the road for a second time before he was stopped and arrested in Maryhill.
A TEENAGER is accused of breaking into two primary schools with intent to steal. The 16-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, allegedly entered Haghill Park school in Glasgow s East End as well as St Bartholomews in the city s Castlemilk. The accusations span between April 25 and 26 last year. Prosecutors claim the boy, who was on bail, acted with another who remains unknown. The teenager pleaded not guilty from the dock at Glasgow Sheriff Court to the two charges. A further hearing was fixed for April this year by Sheriff Joseph Platt who continued the boy’s bail meantime.
James Stewart attacked Julie McInally last September 13 knocking out her two front teeth. The 29-year-old lashed out after the victim had a confrontation with his ex-lover Lyndsay Callaghan, 35, in the street in Glasgow s Sandyhills. Police eventually had to use a Taser stun gun to arrest Stewart. Stewart pleaded guilty yesterday at Glasgow Sheriff Court to assaulting Miss McInally to her severe injury. Describing the attack, prosecutor Jennifer McKee said: Stewart ran towards the two women. “What can only be described as high or flying kicks took place to Miss McInally’s head. “She fell to the ground and was rendered unconscious.
A PERV was snared with nearly six hours of indecent videos of children in his ill mother’s home. Alexander Cuthbertson, 49, was caught with 1,899 images overall at the flat in Lambhill. He even created fake social media accounts to communicate with kids between March 2007 and January 2020. Cuthbertson, posing as a girl, repeatedly asked for naked pictures of victims as young as 13. He pleaded guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court to taking or permit to be taken indecent images of kids. He also admitted distributing images and sending written sexual communication to children. The court heard police raided the property on Skirsa Street where Cuthbertson lives with his mum who suffers from dementia. Officers seized two iPhones and a desktop computer from Cuthbertson’s bedroom.
