Capital Region Battle Tonight On Hardwood
Guilderland s Andrew Platek and Glens Falls Joseph Girard III will battle tonight in a pivotal ACC basketball game. Both standout athletes from the Capital Region will continue their seasons into conference. Platek, the senior who could be playing his final season in Chapel Hill, is coming off arguably the best individual moment of his career. Platek hit a buzzer beating shot against the Miami Hurricanes earlier this month.
Girard III has had an up and down season so far for the Orange. Early in the season, Girard had played some of his worst games of his career. The production was so below standard that here at 104.5 The Team we questioned if it was time to be concerned about his play. In the Orange s most recent victory over rival Georgetown, JG3 posted his best game of the season with eighteen points and eight assists.

What looked like an easy route to a 5-1 record for the Orange ended up becoming a scrappy defensive fest after trailing Northeastern for most of the game. After clinging to a one point halftime lead, Syracuse outlasted the Huskies to win by a final score of 62-56 inside the Carrier Dome.
Northeastern came out the gates scorching hot from deep. They made seven 3s in the first half. If it weren’t for Joseph Girard and Marek Dolezaj coming out strong for the Orange to start too, Northeastern could have ran away with this one. Jahmyl Telford was a man on a mission in the first half and Syracuse had no answer for him.
