AWS announces general availability of AWS Wavelength in South Korea

Geospatial World 12/24/2020 5 Minutes Read Amazon Web Services, Inc. (AWS), an Amazon.com company, has announced the general availability of AWS Wavelength on SK Telecom (SKT)’s 5G network, allowing developers to build ultra-low latency applications for mobile devices and users throughout South Korea. Customers can now deploy parts of their application that require ultra-low latency at the edge of 5G networks using the same AWS APIs, tools, and functionality they use today, while seamlessly connecting back to the rest of their application and the full range of Cloud services running in the AWS Asia Pacific (Seoul) Region. By embedding AWS compute and storage services at the edge of 5G networks, AWS enables developers to serve edge computing use cases that require ultra-low latency like machine learning, Internet of Things (IoT), and video and game streaming.

Delaware vaccinates 750 in first week

Since receiving the Pfizer vaccine Dec. 14, Delaware has vaccinated 750 healthcare workers across the state. Delaware’s six health systems, and three sites of one long-term care organization were all part of the vaccine’s phased rollout. The 750 vaccines administered are current as of noon Dec. 18, officials said, and the number will change as more frontline workers receive the vaccine. Up-to-date totals are expected to be posted at de.gov/healthycommunity in the coming days.  “Our frontline healthcare workers continue to lead by example, and I want to thank all of those Delawareans who rolled up their sleeves this week and received the vaccine,” said Gov. John Carney in a press release. “Your hard work and leadership will get us through this crisis. As our healthcare workers know, we continue to face a winter surge of COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations.”
