It is a move that has not been well by Timu ya Wananchi, who insisted they will stick to the initial plan. The Yanga management is disappointed with the pushing forward of the game against Simba from 5 pm to 7 pm, read a statement obtained by
Goal. The changes are against the rules; article 15 (10) of the rules governing the game in the country states any changes regarding the kick-off should be communicated to both teams 24 hours earlier. Yanga management will not agree on the kick-off time communicated and will honour the initial time, 5 pm. The management has further challenged the TFF to run the league in accordance with the set rules and guidelines.
According to the club’s official website, Chama, who has scored 20 goals in 25 matches for Simba and managing 13 assists said: “We need a win to put ourselves in a good position to secure the league title this season as our goal set for the start of the season.
Striker Chriss Mugalu, who has scored four league goals this campaign, said; “We are going to make adequate preparations and those players who will get a chance to represent the team in the match will fight hard enough so that we can get the victory as that is possible.”
On his part, winger Miquissone said the team is full of confidence heading into the derby as they have proved this season they are doing well against big teams.
“As days go by, Yanga are getting better in the defensive area as is the case with Simba. Abdallah Shiabu [of Yanga] is improving and he can stop Simba during the game regardless of their attacking power.”
On his part, former Yanga striker Morris said that although Simba boast good midfielders, their slowness at the back could be exploited by Yanga on Saturday. Clatous Chama, Larry Bwalya, Bernard Morrison and Luis Miquissone have been the preferred men for Simba in the midfield while Serge Wawa and Joash Onyango have been regularly paired at the back.
“Simba have got good midfielders who constantly create chances and the strikers make use of those opportunities in most cases,” Morris said.
‘Kwani Wao Wanasemaje?’ (what is the other side saying) is the current line of online engagement between the red zone (read Simba fans) and the green zone (the Yanga SC support base).
The derby carries a lot of stakes with it given that a win will help Simba widen the gap at the top and a victory for the Jangwani club will be a huge step towards reclaiming the top spot as they hope to win the league title they last lifted three seasons ago.
Timu ya Wananchi must be on top of their game to contain a Simba side that is yet to be defeated in six local engagements.
Kisinda is a key player who is well versed when it comes to crucial games like the one coming ahead. There is something that we missed during the last two games and given that we are going to play a big game we need to be in great form, Tonombe told Kisinda s return is some great news for whoever is supporting the team and it is also big news for the coaches as they will have a huge pool to select the players from. Kisinda s pace is something that even Simba are aware how dangerous it can be for them.
