BERNARDS TWP. â Republican Township Committeewoman Janice Fields is expected to be the committeeâs choice to serve as mayor for 2021.
The five-member governing body, which annually rotates the mayoral title among its members, plans to formally choose Fields to succeed fellow Republican Mayor James Baldassare Jr. at its annual reorganization meeting scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 5, at town hall on Collyer Lane.
Baldassare confirmed the plan moments after the committeeâs meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 15. He has served as mayor since January and will remain on the committee in 2021.
âI think Janice will continue to serve us well, and I look forward to helping her in any way I can,â he said.
