Bradford burglar jailed after gang s £23,000 raid on Bingley family home

A member of a burglary gang that raided cash, property and a car to the value of £23,000 from a family home was today jailed for three years. Liam Sherriff climbed through a window at the unoccupied country home near Bingley and let his accomplices in with the house keys, Bradford Crown Court heard. The gang made an untidy search of every room while the couple and their baby were out for a drive on the afternoon of May 10 last year, prosecutor Hannah Walker said. The family returned to find their Vauxhall Corsa gone, along with £700 in cash, jewellery, laptop computers, bank cards, tools and electronic equipment.

Bradford Crown Court THE sentencing of a man who assaulted a police officer and sexually assaulted a woman has been adjourned until a psychiatric report has been produced. Asif Khan, 35, of Thorn Drive, Heaton, appeared on a video link to Bradford Crown Court on Friday. He was due to be sentenced after previously pleading guilty to assaulting a police officer in Bradford on December 29 last year, sexually assaulting a woman by touching her bottom, and common assault on December 1. He also admitted to 11 breaches of a Criminal Behaviour Order banning him from attending A&E departments. But Judge Jonathan Gibson adjourned the case untilMay 28, citing the need for a psychiatric report.
