How the Mukti Bahini was trained | The Daily Star

Members of the Mukti Bahini preparing for their next guerilla attack. On May 1, 1971, General SHFJ Manekshaw issued the Indian Army Operational Instruction No. 52. A structured policy to provide training facilities and logistical and operational support for the liberation of Bangladesh was prepared by Lieutenant General Jagjit Singh Aurora, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C) Eastern Command. The Indian Army was responsible for training, equipping, and providing logistical support to Mukti Bahini. Selection of personnel, discipline, motivation, planning and execution of operations were an exclusive prerogative of the Commander-in-Chief (C-in-C) Bangladesh. An elaborate procedure was adopted for the selection of recruits for Mukti Bahini. Youth from all over Bangladesh were recruited to cover the entire territory. Monnujan for payment of workers’ salaries, bonuses by May 10 168 DHAKA, Apr 29, 2021 (BSS)-State Minister for Labour and Employment Begum Monnujan Sufian today called for payment of salaries, festival allowances to workers in all sectors, including garments by May 10. The state minister also directed the factory owners to pay their outstanding for the month of March before Eid festival and to arrange zone wise holidays to avoid public transport crisis and maintain social distancing to facilitate the Eid celebration , said a press release. The state minister made the call in a tripartite advisory committee meeting held at conference room of city’s Bijay Nagar Labour Building today.

Police recover boy who staged his kidnapping - Newspaper

GUJRAT: Police claimed on Thursday to have recovered a 15-year-old grade-IX student who was found involved in staging his own kidnapping for a Rs0.5 million ransom in a bid to avoid going to academy for studies. Gujrat DPO Umar Salamat told Dawn that one Asif Beig of Ali Chak had informed the Lalamusa Saddar police on Wednesday that his son Zainul Abedin had gone to attend tuition but did not return home. During a search, the boy’s school bag was found. The DPO said a small paper of writing was also found from the bag in which a message was delivered to the parents to pay a ransom of Rs0.5m for the safe recovery of their son after which the police had lodged a case of kidnapping against unidentified suspects.
