Jamestown Pride Fest to take place Saturday, June 12th in Downtown Jamestown The Jamestown Pride Planning Group has announced the Jamestown Pride Fest will be take place Saturday, June 12th. The LGBTQIA+ community has historically celebrated Pride in June to commemorate the Stonewall Riots that took place in June 1969. Pride Coordinator Sheridan Smith said with last year’s Pride canceled due to the Pandemic they weren’t sure what was even going to be possible for this year until a few months ago, “So, one month out this has been just a very big undertaking to get done as quickly as we have. And now that we finally have the permits, I can tell you that Pride is happening at the Jamestown Public Market and another location just off the Public Market.”

The day will start at 9:30 a.m. with a Pride flag raising and Pulse Anniversary Remembrance Ceremony on Tracy Plaza with Mayor Eddie Sundquist. Jamestown Pride will be part of the Jamestown Public Market from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Pride-themed tents will feature activities such as a “Gender Bread Person” booth, Drag Time Story Hour, and a Pronoun Button tent.

The Jamestown City Council will vote later this month to execute a $3 million grant for the Jamestown Board of Public Utilities. During a council work session meeting Monday, members discussed a resolution to execute the grant agreement with the state Environmental Facilities Corporation for a $5 million water line replacement project in the city. In July 2020, the BPU approved a resolution to authorize the city to accept the $3 million state Clean Water Infrastructure Improvement Act grant and enter into an agreement to borrow $2 million from the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund.

Jamestown Public Market Moving To Third Street for 2021 The Jamestown Public Market will be moving to a new location for the 2021 season. The City Council Public Safety Committee approved the special event permit application for the market, which will open Saturday, June 12th. It will now be located on West Third Street between North Main and Cherry Streets. Public Market Director Linnea Carlson said the market has become more successful and needed more space, “We’re going to be having two rows of tents down the middle of Third Street and that’s going to help us expand the number of vendors that we can have. We’re also excited to move to Third Street because we just continue to build our relationships with the surrounding businesses such as Crown Street which is a wonderful opportunity for us to be in front of that establishment as well as the Lucy Museum.”
