Jamestown Fire Department Requests New Locks

JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Fire & Police Committee approved the replacement of all lock sets at both fire stations in Jamestown. In a letter from Jamestown Fire Chief Jim Reuther, it’s requested that they replace all walk door lock sets with electric locks and key fobs instead of replacing lock sets with keys. “The doors haven’t been rekeyed for over 30 years [and] it’s unknown how many keys are actually existing at this time,” Chief Reuther states. “Lock sets are in poor condition, at times we are unable to enter the building because of them being worn out.”

Jamestown Man Charged with Arson in Fires at Jamestown High School and Fifties Grill & Dairy A Jamestown man has been arrested for allegedly setting fire to the Jamestown High School and the Fifties Grill & Dairy on Washington Street. Jamestown Police and Jamestown Fire were called to Fifties Grill and Dairy Sunday night by an employee who found an incendiary device in the bathroom which had burned the wall. Investigators reviewed surveillance video and identified 19-year old Xavier Guadarrma as a possible suspect. Investigators also found a similar incendiary device behind Jamestown High School where a minor fire caused damage to the outside of the building and the lawn. Guadarmma was identified as a possible suspect in that case as well after surveillance video was reviewed.

Bravo to expanding visitors experience at National Buffalo Museum

Plans are to provide guided tours of the bison herd there. 7:00 am, Feb. 20, 2021 × The Jamestown Sun hands out these bravos this week: Bravo to the National Buffalo Museum for expanding the experience of visitors with planned tours this year of the buffalo herd at the museum. Pasture tours that consist of guided trips using a museum vehicle to view the herd are expected although some details remain to be completed. North Dakota Tourism provided a $15,000 grant to begin the project, said Ilana Xinos, executive director of the museum. The goal of the project is to present information about the modern bison industry.
