Troubled AFL legend Mark Bomber Thompson has opened up on his life after struggling with a drug addiction and being diagnosed with PTSD.
The three-time premiership player and dual premiership coach shared his miraculous journey of recovery during an emotional interview on Channel Nine s Today Show on Monday.
Thompson touched on the downward spiral from his illustrious career with the Essendon doping scandal in 2013, struggling with a drug addiction and how becoming diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder was a godsend . I was in a pretty bad spot, he said. I went to drugs to mask the pain. It does. But the pain comes back tomorrow. It was the alternative I had.

James Hird has revealed a navicular injury he suffered at the start of the 1999 season almost ended his career prematurely.
The Essendon great, who played 253 games for the club before going on to coach the side for four years before he resigned at the end of 2015, suffered several serious injuries throughout his career.
Before his infamous facial injury in 2002, Hird suffered several navicular injuries which plagued him throughout his career.
Speaking on Corey McKernan’s
Walk With Me podcast, Hird admitted that his third serious foot injury had him contemplating whether to call him on his career after just six seasons.

Eddie McGuire has proven that he doesn’t have to be Collingwood president to come out swinging when defending the club.

Footy Classified last week Sam McClure referenced that Collingwood’s list management had been a “debacle since about five years ago”.
McGuire immediately leapt to Collingwood’s defence, citing that Collingwood had come within a kick of winning the flag in 2018 and a kick within making another grand final in 2019 and had beat West Coast in a final last year in “one of the great wins of all time”.
