New provider Westbridge SSAS has recruited three new executives a week after it bought James Hay’s SASS book.
The acquisition added more than 1,000 small self-administered schemes, 48 employees and over £1bn of assets under management.
The appointments today include Wayne Barlow who will join as head of client experience at Westbridge SSAS.
He joins from his most recent role as operations director of James Hay, having previously held senior executive roles at Rowanmoor SSAS, AXA Wealth and Winterthur.
Rocky Leanders will join as group financial controller having previously held similar roles at Next PLC and Lands End Europe Ltd.

It is all about platforms at the moment. With the marriage between James Hay and Nucleus, Old Mutual having a makeover and Standard Life Aberdeen breaking up with Parmenion, it has been hard to keep track. But there does seem to be change in the air.
It is all very timely as we have been reviewing our preferred platforms, identifying those that work best for the business and our clients. At this point, I want to ‘big up’ the Lang Cat’s Platform Analyser tool, which has made the data gathering easy and highlighted some providers that might have been overlooked. It has been an interesting and enjoyable process going through the facts and figures, with the longlist being whittled down to the shortlist and then the finalists.

While the rest of us have spent the past year on sourdough detail, drinking and moaning about home schooling, private equity firms have been using the time to eye up the platform sector. At least, if the recent spate of M&A is anything to go by.
Private equity has had a toe in the platform market for a while. Caledonia Investments bought a majority stake in 7IM in 2015, while JC Flowers has backed Interactive Investor since 2016.
