BILLINGS - As marijuana becomes legal in Montana with certain guidelines, thereâs new concern among law enforcement roughly one month since the measure took hold. Thatâs because in a state already plagued by a drunk driving epidemic, new projections coming from the Montana Department of Justice show that DUIâs could increase due to marijuana use.
But thatâs not the only concern. Officials working in Montana s justice system believe the measure was passed with gaping holes that ultimately will have to be addressed and ironed out by the Montana legislature before retail shops are set to open in the fall of 2021.

MTNâs Statewide Promotions Manager, James Rafferty is in charge of keeping track of all those numbers.
In 1995, Rafferty took a class at the University of Montana, âNumbers in News.â
âI didnât think Iâd be using (it) for coverage of a pandemic, but it turned out that way,â he said.
