Holmes began his career at Selfridges, where he worked alongside fellow industry veterans Caroline South, He joined Harding Brothers in 2010 and helped to establish the brand in its current role within the travel retail sector. Holmes began his career working in Selfridges alongside highly respected DF&TR industry figure Caroline South. He then joined Allders International on 8 April 1987 as the company’s first confectionery buyer, working alongside the likes of Nigel Keal, Martin Petchey, Peter Blatch, Glen Williams, Martin Scarfe, Davene Stirling and James Prescott. Nigel Keal, President, European Travel Retail Confederation said: “I so fondly remember those days in the Eastleigh office where Mike was always the life and soul and the consummate professional.”
