ABC Officially Renews Grey’s Anatomy and Station 19 Spin-Off
Grey’s Anatomy has officially been renewed for its 18th season.

Station 19 spin-off also being renewed for a 5th season. It’s unclear whether or not the upcoming 18th season of
Grey’s Anatomy will be its last, but the future of the show is certainly up in the air. Krista Vernoff will return as executive producer and showrunner on both shows, with ABC Signature producing.

Grey’s Anatomy has been on a weird run this season, with it openly acknowledging the pandemic, dramatically cranking up the amount of ghosts who appear in a given episode, and even sending off yet another long-term cast member. Before long, the show will just be Meredith Grey’s “What might have been?” dream fantasies for an hour and then maybe there will be some doctor stuff thrown in as a treat. Despite showrunner Krista Vernoff writing a season 17 finale that could act as a series finale, it s not quite time to pull the plug on
Grey s Anatomy. On May 10, Deadline confirmed that ABC had renewed the long-running medical drama for season 18. As if that news wasn t exciting enough, original cast members Ellen Pompeo, Chandra Wilson, and James Pickens Jr. are set to return as Meredith Grey, Miranda Bailey, and Richard Webber, respectively. The renewal news comes shortly after Jesse Williams announced his exit as Jackson Avery from the show, saying, I will forever be grateful for the boundless opportunities provided me by Shonda [Rhimes], the network, studio, fellow cast mates, our incredible crew, Krista [Vernoff], Ellen [Pompeo] and Debbie [Allen].

Grey s Anatomy has now be renewed for an 18th season on ABC! This news come less than two months after Krista Vernoff, a showrunner revealed the network did not yet decide on whether the show was coming back or not. Vernoff says that she prepared a season finale and series finale for the end of the 17th season, just in case.
Ellen Pompeo will return along with co-stars Chandra Wilson and James Pickens Jr. who have all received pay raises.
