Fans of the BBC’s Line of Duty finally found out who the mysterious H was, as series six came to an end in an epic finale.
After weeks of clues and multiple red herrings, the “Fourth Man” was revealed to be DSU Ian Buckells (played by Nigel Boyle).
Following the finale, Jed Mercurio revealed why it was so important for Buckells to be the very man, who had eluded AC-12 for so long.
“I suppose it was really down to the decision to kind of hold him to account mid season. There were suspicions around him in the first few episodes, AC-12 get him in and they charge him, off he goes to prison and it feels like he’s done and dusted,” he told Craig Parkinson during an episode of Obsessed With… Line of Duty on BBC Sounds.
Line Of Duty star Nigel Boyle has defended the series six finale, after fans took to Twitter in droves to express their disappointment.
Fans across the nation were left underwhelmed and disappointed on Sunday night as the nail-biting series finale drew to a close – and the mysterious antagonist H was finally unmasked as DSI Ian Buckells, played by Boyle.
And during an appearance on BBC Breakfast on Monday, Boyle insisted that fans of the hit show would grow to appreciate the ending over time, as he also revealed he d only told his wife Lainy that he was the Fourth Man ahead of the finale.
