Pep Guardiola: Says Cumbrian James Trafford is growing really, really well (photo: PA) Pep Guardiola has hailed the progress being made at Manchester City by Cumbrian teenager James Trafford. The goalkeeper, from Greysouthen near Cockermouth, is impressing as he comes through the ranks at the Premier League club. Trafford, 18, was on the bench for City in last week s Carabao Cup semi-final victory against Manchester United. The former Carlisle United academy kid is firmly established among City s top goalkeepers as he continues learning from the more senior figures of Ederson, Zack Steffen and Scott Carson. Guardiola referred to Trafford s encouraging progress as he discussed the various goalkeeping options at City, where Cleator Moor veteran Carson - on loan from Derby - is third choice.

Manchester City have confirmed two more players and another member of staff have tested positive for Covid-19.
Goalkeeper Scott Carson and 18-year-old midfielder Cole Palmer are the latest players affected by the recent outbreak at the club and will now isolate.
City were without six other players for their Premier League victory at Chelsea last Sunday following positive tests.
A statement from the club read: Manchester City FC can confirm that Scott Carson, Cole Palmer and one member of staff have tested positive for Covid-19. Both personnel will now observe a period of self-isolation in accordance with Premier League and UK Government protocol on quarantine.
City have launched an internal investigation after Benjamin Mendy appeared to break coronavirus rules by hosting a New Year s Eve party.
On Tuesday the Premier League confirmed a season-high 40 positive coronavirus cases were recorded in the latest week of testing.
Manchester City and the other three teams contesting the Carabao Cup semi-finals and final will be allowed to make five substitutions per game, the English Football League has confirmed.
Up until the last-four stage, regulations had been kept in line with the Premier League, with the substitution limit at three.
As was the case during the resumption of the 2019/20 Premier League season, coaches will be limited to three opportunities to use their five substitutions during the 90 minutes.
