Orange Cast, a Russian spin on Dead Space and The Expanse, has a free prologue out now
Sci-fi fans will want to check out Orange Cast: Prologue, a free demo out today from Russian indie developer Team Rez. It’s a tense third-person shooter that casts you as a reborn super soldier brought back to protect humanity in the midst of a dire emergency.
It’s a bit intimidating at first, since Orange Cast has a kind of Stalker-esque vibe going on – there aren’t many of the traditional guardrails that you’ll find in modern shooters. You’re roused from some kind of stasis by an AI, and immediately find yourself confronted with the news that you’ve already died, and that you now have a brand new enhanced body. The bad news is that you’re being sent straight into a city under siege by enemy forces, and they plan on making the entire planet uninhabitable to humans.
One of the standout characters of The Expanse's fifth season is Amos Burton, who returns to Earth to face his past and must then confront an uncertain future, too. We talked to actor Wes Chatham about the relationships that helped shape Amos' journey.

That was the good news. The bad news was the fact that season 6 was going to be the show’s last. Vernon Sanders, co-head of television at Amazon Studios, said that season 6 would offer fans the satisfying conclusion to the series that they deserve. Ah, but is it really the end?
The Expanse, which is based on a book series of the same name by James S.A. Corey (a pen name for authors Daniel Abraham and Ty Franck) has already had a second life after it was canceled by the Syfy channel at the conclusion of season 3. Alcon Television Group, the studio that produces the show, then sold the show to Amazon, who picked up the series for seasons 4 and 5, and then renewed it for what they are billing as a final season 6.
