The new mayor of Weston says he is honoured to serve the town over the next year.
Cllr Canniford s mayorship was extended for another 12 months due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Cllr Clayton told the Mercury: It is an honour to become the mayor of Weston and I am glad this opportunity is finally here, I am very much looking forward to it. My focus will be on youth provision and recognising all the different youth groups, alongside sports teams in the area as I have a passion for boxing and I volunteer two nights a week to coach young boxers at Weston Amateur Boxing Club to give them focus.

Checkmate is now sold. Her sale was concluded by James Clayton and John Cohen of Merle Wood & Associates who represented the seller.
She can accommodate as many as 12 guests between her five cabins, and also hosts a crew of nine. Her interiors has been finished in a warm colour palette, with browns, creams and golds.
Checkmate was launched in 2012, and delivered to her American owners shortly thereafter. She is the 15th hull of Benettiâs Vision line. The motor yacht cruises at 14 knots, and has a top speed of 15 knots. She had a last known asking price of â¬10,500,000.
With the filming of an episode of ‘The Good Doctor’ wrapping up in Merritt, the Thompson-Nicola Film Commission says other film projects are on their way to the area soon.
According to Film Commissioner Victoria Weller, the feature film ‘Death Pursuit’ will begin filming sometime this month between the Merritt, Ashcroft, Cache Creek, and Spences Bridge areas. There are several other projects that are in line to take advantage of the rolling valleys and desert climate of the region as well, though they have not yet been given the green light.
‘Death Pursuit’ is set to be helmed by Director James Clayton, and starring Lina Lecompte, Shawn Madson, and Shane Laydon, according to the Internet Movie Database.
