The Case of Cyntoia Brown focuses on Cyntoia Long-Brown, who was sex-trafficked by a boyfriend, tried as an adult at 16 years old and sentenced to life in prison for aggravated robbery and first-degree murder before serving 15 years.
It is based on Brown-Long’s book Free Cyntoia: My Search for Redemption in the American Prison System. Brown-Long and her husband Jamie Long will also consult on the project.
On August 6, 2004, a then 16-year-old Brown shot and killed Johnny Michael Allen in the back of the head after she claimed he tried to coerce her into sex. Despite maintaining self-defense in the incident, she was tried as an adult, found guilty and sentenced to life in prison where she served 15 years before the aforementioned celebrity campaign in November 2017.
No timetable has been put on production as of press time. Brown’s husband Jamie Long will serve as a consultant on the project along with
Power writer Santa Sierra.

Starz Developing The Case of Cyntoia Brown Limited Series From 50 Cent
The Case of Cyntoia Brown.
The limited drama series will be inspired by the real-life story of Cyntoia Brown-Long, who served 15 years of a life sentence for killing a man when she was 16-years-old. Jackson has been a long-time supporter of Brown-Long and will lean on Santa Sierra (known for their work on
Power Book III: Raising Kanan,
Vida and
Narcos) to write the limited series. Brown-Long and her husband Jamie Long will consult on the project.
Based on Brown-Long’s book,
Free Cyntoia: My Search for Redemption in the American Prison System, the show will focus on the story of Brown-Long. She was a victim of sex trafficking at the hands of her boyfriend and was tried as an adult leading her to be sentenced to life in prison for aggravated robbery and first-degree murder. Despite her being a minor, Brown-Long’s sentence required her to serve at least 51 years before being eligible for parole.
Minnesota gas bills are up by $800 million; Texas freeze is to blame
Unmute
ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) Minnesota will be facing more than $800 million in extra gas bills. It s a result of the Texas freeze fiasco in February of this year. It s incredibly frustrating, Minnesota Public Utilities Commission Vice Chair Joseph Sullivan said. It s [Texas] a major supplier of natural gas, but because they did not do the important work in winterizing their systems, much of their gas supply was unable to be accessed because of their poor infrastructure.
When the Lone Star State s natural gas system got clocked by the cold, the entire county had to pay the price.
