A Norwich councillor is calling for increased funding support to tackle sofa-surfing and rough sleeping in the city.
Jamie Osborn, Green Party councillor for the Mancroft ward, said the existing economic impact of the pandemic has created a fear of a tsunami of evictions .
Speaking after the meeting and in response to a special homeless series by the EDP, Mr Osborn said: A lot of people who I come across in Norwich really appreciate tenancy support, but the council is really stretched already with overcapacity, so it is really important we invest in this now to prevent a much greater rise in homelessness.

Government funding to make Norwich s buildings more energy efficient “will not go anywhere near far enough”, a city councillor has claimed.
Green Party councillor Jamie Osborn’s comments came after Norwich City Council approved a £1.5m funding boost from the government to reduce its carbon emissions.
Some of the cash from the Green Homes Grant scheme will be spent on reducing the carbon footprint from council buildings and 80 homes.
Mr Osborn, who represents Mancroft ward, said: “This money for improving energy efficiency and access to renewable energy across a range of buildings is very welcome.

More homes will get solar panels and better insulation, while more environmentally friendly lighting will be installed in car parks and venues after a £1.5m boost for Norwich.
Norwich City Council has been awarded the extra government cash to help cut carbon emissions.
City Hall has won a £715,000 share of the £500m Green Homes Grant scheme, which will see 50 homes get solid wall insulation/cladding, while 30 more will get solar panels.
The council has also been awarded £740,000 through the government decarbonisation funding scheme.
That will be used to provide renewable heating at City Hall and a large solar system at the council’s new environmental services depot at Hurricane Way.
